College Football Preview

NCAA Champ: Ohio State (they'll beat the SEC Champ this year unless the Pac 10 champ is undefeated)

Heisman: Tim (Herschel Walker) Tebow

Breakout Teams: Remember Kansas, Illinois and Missouri last year? This year it's Arkansas, Pitt, and UCLA.

Traditional Power Disappointments: Alabama, Michigan, and my favorite every year...Notre Dame. Charlie (don't call me Patrick Reusse) Weis will be sitting on a hot seat come November.

Minnesota Prediction: 4-8

One Hit Wonders: Illinois, Kansas and Notre Dame

Hot Seat: Kirk Ferentz

BCS Teams I wouldn't watch if there wasn't anything else on: Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Arizona and almost all of the Big East, except Pitt (seriously, who would watch them?)

I Can't Think of anything nice to say Award: Bret Bielema

Sidebar Opinion: Was watching Big Ten Network the other night and Glen Mason was on giving his prediction/analysis for the Penn State/Coastal Carolina game (no, I did not stay tuned in for long). On several occasions, the color guy kept referring to Glen as "Coach" and "Coach Glen Mason". Did I miss something? The last time I checked, Glen Mason is no longer coaching. For that matter, neither is John Cooper, Lou Holtz, Bobby Knight, etc. PLEASE STOP CALLING THESE GUYS COACH!

Nice call on UCLA, gophers sure looked they have turned the corner after that stunning victory. Pitt is officially changing the "p" to an "sh"

I was shocked to wake up and see that UCLA had won last night. This is not a break out team. Tennessee is terrible. I havent seen that many interceptions in 1/2 of football since watching Demetrius Brown play in East Lansing in Nov of 87. Even at that, those interceptions were much more credible because they were within 5 yards of the receiver.

The fact that you drag your son onto an airplane every weekend to go watch Pitt should be reported to, and investigated by, the states Child Protective Services.

Cripes! How long has that rant been festering? I almost expected to hear sobbing toward the end. Does your wife know you've been harboring all this pent up frustration since Pitt hired Dave "You're not fooling us with the moustache, we know you have a hairlip) Wannstedt?

I have no defense for Pitt. If the head coach is playing for field position against a MAC team (Pitt punted TWICE from the Bowling Green 34), they don't deserve to be defended.

However, I will defend the Big East. Not against the SEC, Big 12, PAC-10 or even Big 10...but against the ACC. How many teams in the ACC do you want to watch? That conference is a teeming cesspool of mediocrity. Maryland, NC State, Georgia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, need I go on? They haven't won a BCS game in eight years, and they've already been eliminated from the national championship picture one week into the season.

The Big East is not great (though it has won three straight BCS bowl games), but West Virginia and South Florida are legitimate, and Cincinnati might be. The top ACC teams have already crapped the bed against their legitimate OOC opponents. The Big East top teams might also...we'll find out in the next few weeks with Cincinnati-Oklahoma, South Florida-Kansas and West Virginia-Auburn.

If the Gophers win at Bowling Green this weekend, I will crawl into my hole for another six weeks of summer.

You think only 4 wins with that weak ass schedule ???
